1. What is Engage?
Engage is an easy-to-learn online tool to encourage spiritual growth that takes the guesswork out of two important life questions: “Where am I in my spiritual journey?” and “How can I move forward?” The intuitive system helps you to take ownership of your spiritual journey and move forward as the Holy Spirit guides you. And, it’s accessible by anyone anywhere with Internet or Wi-Fi access through a computer and some smart phones.
2. How does it work?
Based on your answers to the Engage Survey, you will receive a unique spiritual Portrait gathered from research of more than 350,000 participants in the nationwide REVEAL™ Study. Your Engage Portrait™ helps you understand where you are in your spiritual journey, then recommends personalized action steps you can take to grow closer to God.
Tools like the Bible Engagement Plan and Spiritual Growth Track empower you to move forward through scripture engagement, experiences, personal practices and relationships—all centered around spiritual growth.
Opportunities in your church are also filtered specifically to match your needs and interests, helping you to connect with relevant events, group experiences and more.
3. Why should I trust Engage with my spiritual growth?
Engage is a resource provided through your church. Every aspect has been approved by the staff to closely align with your church culture, language and theology. The core infrastructure of the system was developed by the Willow Creek Association, a not-for-profit ministry with a proven track record over nearly two decades in serving churches globally and producing powerful tools for leaders and congregations.
In fact, the Engage spiritual growth platform is supported by the American Bible Society. Learn more.

4. Do I need to be at a certain level in my spiritual growth to use Engage?
Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, Engage will present you with appropriate recommended action steps and community interaction options designed to move you forward.
5. Can I use Engage on my own, or does it need to be through a church?
While Engage is personalized to your own spiritual journey, the system is purposefully designed to support your local church community. A church licenses Engage for a fee so individuals like you can have free access to use it, share your experiences with friends, in a Bible study, small group … wherever you desire.
6. Do I need to be part of a small group to participate?
Many pastors choose to introduce Engage to their congregation through small groups or other existing gatherings, but participation in a small group is not required to benefit from Engage.
7. What is the Engage Portrait™ and how is it used?
Based on your answers to the Engage Survey, you will receive a unique spiritual Portrait highlighting the characteristics of your love of God and love of others in your faith journey. From there, Engage delivers practical next-steps recommendations for spiritual growth that were selected by your church staff members.
8. How do you determine where I’m at spiritually?
Your Engage Portrait™ draws from the insights learned during the WCA’s five-year-long research project: REVEAL™. The REVEAL™ Study included 350,000 in-depth responses from congregants in 1,500 churches across a wide variety of denominations. This storehouse of knowledge is the engine of Engage that can help you make positive, measurable changes in your spiritual growth.
9. What makes Engage’s Bible Engagement different?
Engage serves up a set of Bible passages personalized to your unique survey responses. Each reading is thematic, with a specific goal focused on one of five key perspectives: Theme Discovery, Bird’s-eye View, Memorization, Meditation and Listening. Your plan is interwoven with the Engage Notebook app to encourage you to journal as you engage the scriptures.
10. Will Engage work on my mobile phone?
Yes, users can enjoy a streamlined experience through a Web-optimized version of Engage on mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows 7 and certain Blackberry devices. Native iPhone and Android applications will be available soon.
